MINORS' CONTRACTS IN ART, ENTERTAINMENT, AND PROFESSIONAL SPORTS
ADDED: Family Code 771(b), 6750 et.seq.
AMENDED: Family Code 6750 et.seq.EXISTING: Specific provisions are made concerning the earnings and accumulations of minors from work in the arts, entertainment and professional sports . The earnings of a minor child living with a spouse who is living separate and apart from his/her spouse, are the separate property of the custodial spouse.

NEW: This legislation regulates the disposition of earnings or accumulations by an unemancipated minor by requiring a certain portion to be held in trust, as specified. It also requires the trustee of the trust to, among other things, prepare a specified written statement under penalty of perjury, thereby expanding the crime of perjury. It also clarifies that all the earnings and accumulations of an unemancipated minor child related to a contract of a type described in Family Code 6750 et.seq. are remain the sole legal property of the minor child.
