We feel that agreements reached by the parties are more effective in the long run than orders issued by the court. Practice consists of but not limited to: Family Law and Divorce including child custody, child support, maintenance (alimony), parenting time, property division, businesses, real estate, retirement assets, Adoption and Stepparent adoption, Annulment, Collaborative Divorce, Legal Separation (also known as Separate Maintenance), Modifications including child custody, child support, maintenance, parenting time, Name Change, Paternity, Pre-nuptial and Post-Nuptial Agreements. We may recommend counseling or mediation in connection with our legal services. Good marriage and parenting counselors are available. We typically recommend counseling where appropriate prior to filing a lawsuit in a family law matter. Individual counseling can also be helpful during and after the divorce process. If children are involved, many counties require mediation as a prerequisite to a divorce hearing if the parents can’t agree on custody arrangements.
