Description of Services

Mediation is an informal process wherein two individuals meet and find mutually satisfactory solutions to their differences. A trained professional assist the individuals maintain civility and fairness. Mediation can usually resolve disputes quickly without the expense and delay of litigation and with less emotional negativity. The objective is to reach a mutually agreeable resolution. In Divorce Mediation an agreeable divorce takes place regarding all issues such as child custody, support payments, property, etc. In Conciliation Mediation the results are to understand the issues of marriage and how to develop a strong and beneficial marriage relationship. Mediators are NOT judges. Their role is to manage the process through which parties resolve their conflict. A successful mediation results in a binding written agreement between the parties which may be confirmed by a Judge and become a court document. A Custody Evaluation Study is made to determine what is best for the children involved in divorce. This inclusive report is given to the Judge to aid in the final deliberations as to placement of the child or children on the basis of Utah State Law (see Rule 4-907). An Adoption Home Evaluation is an investigation of prospective adoptive parents. When adoptions takes place State certification is required of the adoptive parents.
