The husband and the wife were married on February 7, 1998. Less than nine months later, on October 24, 1998, the wife left the marital home and filed a petition for divorce on November 4, 1998. On November 12, 1998, the couple signed a partition and community property settlement which, among other things, granted the wife spousal support of $2,000 a month for life and half of any future proceeds from oil and gas leases held by the husbands company, Sandstone Exploration, LLC. This document was not filed into the divorce suit record, but it was filed into the conveyance records of the home parish.
