Document summary:
In August 1996, Design Compendium entered into a contract with Gucci for the manufacture of a Christmas window display, which would include a replica of a particular sculpture. Design Compendium subcontracted with Mark Made to produce replicas at a total contract price of $254,000. The replicas were to be used in all Gucci stores in the United States and Japan. In order to begin work on the project, the husband contacted his bank to obtain funds from the credit line he and the wife had established using the marital home as security, but he found that the credit line had been frozen by the wife earlier in August. The wife later testified that she knew of the contract between Mark Made and Design Compendium and of the expenses Mark Made would have to advance in order to complete the project.
