Trial preparation efforts are important because the information that comes out at a trial depends very much on how well the lawyers understand and present the facts-both favorable and unfavorable-to the judge. Even the best case can be lost if the lawyer is unprepared, careless, incompetent, or otherwise ineffectual. This checklist has been provided by How to Hire the Right Divorce Lawyer.

Focus on the main reason you are going to trial.
Know the exact date and time of the trial.
Prepare written directions to the court house or even go there prior to the day of your trial.
Know what goals you wish to achieve by going to trial.
Keep in mind how close you are to settling these disputed issues.
Have all documents prepared for court presentation.
Have a good understanding of the law and how it pertains to your issues.
Review your strengths and weaknesses.
Review your spouses strengths and weaknesses.
Know exactly what your lawyer is going to ask you (if you are going to testify).
Carefully prepare and review your answers with your lawyer.
Mentally prepare yourself to be cross-examined by the opposing side.
Fully prepare any expert witnesses who are testifying on your behalf.
Prepare qualification questions for all experts witnesses.
