Emancipation: Once a child emancipates, child support ceases. However, each state may have a different law regarding exactly when a child emancipates.
State/Province Specific Child Support Information: Each parent, although the bond of marriage has been broken, still retains a legal responsibility to provide adequate support until the child reaches the age of emancipation.
