Deadbeat Parents: Locating the Assets:
If you have located the obligor the next step is to find his/ her assets so that you can take them and cash them in. Using many of the same methods that you used to locate the obligor, you can locate his/her assets. The only difference is that the first time you were looking for a current address of the obligor so that you could serve him/her legal papers; now you are looking for their income or assets that you can convert into income. Contrary to popular belief, income is not only what a person earns. "Unearned income" is considered to be income as well. That is, income that is not earned through a paycheck.
