When Adoption Occurs:
Adoption terminates any rights unless the adoption decree specifically provides for visitation between the adopted child and the natural relatives.Child Custody Statutes:
Best interest of the child considering:Parents May Choose:
- physical, emotional, mental, religious, and social needs of the child;
- capability and desire of each party to meet those needs;
- child's preference;
- love and affection existing between child and each party;
- length of time the child has been in a stable, satisfactory environment, and the desirability of maintaining continuity;
- desire and ability of each party to allow an open and loving frequent relationship between the child and other party;
- any evidence of domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, or history of violence between the parties;
- any evidence of substance abuse by a party or other household member that directly affects the child; or
- any other relevant factor. A.S. §25.24.150.
