Grandparent Issues: Oregon

Grandparent Rights to Visitation:

Grounds: Visitation may be granted if the grandparent has established or has attempted to establish ongoing personal contact with the child and the custodian of the child has denied the grandparent reasonable opportunity to visit the child.

Chapter 109, Section 109.121 (O.R.S. §109.121).

When Adoption Occurs:

Visitation rights terminate upon adoption.

Child Custody Statutes:

Factors:

emotional ties between the child and other family members;

each party's interest in and attitude toward the child;

desirability of continuing existing relationships; and

any abuse of one party by the other. Conduct and lifestyle are only considered if it is causing or may cause emotional or physical damage to the child (this will require strong proof).
