About Us
Pat Buss’ legal career began upon her graduation from William Mitchell College of Law in 1981.

After 15 years working as an Assistant County Attorney, Pat yearned to work directly with the people whose lives were affected by the law. She genuinely enjoys the opportunity to listen to her clients’ concerns, explain the law and their options to them, and help them make informed decisions regarding the issues that will affect their lives.

Pat is also an Alternative Dispute Resolution provider. She has been trained and is listed on the Minnesota Supreme Court's Roster of Qualified Family Neutrals.
Areas of Practice
Divorce
Legal Separation
Paternity
Adoption
Child Custody
Child Support, Medical Support and Child Care Support
Parenting time (formerly called "visitation")
Spousal Maintenance (commonly referred to as "alimony")
Grandparent Rights
Guardianship
Conservatorship
Alternative Dispute Resolution
Alternative Dispute Resolution is typically more cost effective because the parties share the expense of the "neutral." Even if their atttorneys are present, the discussion is often more solution-focused than in a litigation process, which also helps to control costs.

ADR produces optimal outcomes for the parties and their children (if any) because the parties, rather than a judge, are making the decisions. Since the parties have more control over the outcomes of their case, they are more likely to be satisfied with the results.

The following is a list of available Alternative Dispute Resolution processes available through Pat:

Mediation
Arbitration
Early Neutral Evaluation
Parenting Time Expeditor
Parenting Consultant
Collaborative Law
