James K. Hoenig, Esq., Ph.D. (psych) is listed in Best Lawyers in America in ADR and is the only person in Hawaii listed in Family Law Mediation. He is one of Lawdragon Magazine’s “500 Leading Judges.” Jim was valedictorian at Stanford undergraduate and Law School, Law Clerk to the Chief Justice of the US, and practiced litigation and corporate law and developed/managed large rental apartment complexes before becoming a full-time professional mediator/arbitrator over 20 years ago.

Jim has mediated and arbitrated hundreds of cases in a wide variety of areas (e.g., commercial, construction, employment, real estate, family, contract, partnership, securities, banking, probate, medical malpractice, tort) with claims ranging up to several million dollars. He trains mediators for the Mediation Center of the Pacific, the Supreme Court’s Appellate Conference Program, and the Honolulu Board of Realtors and has written many published works about mediation, including “Practitioner’s Guide to Mediation,” HSBA Journal (1998), “Mediation of Real Estate & Construction Disputes,” Real Estate Review (1997), and "Construction Dispute Resolution Comes of Age," Dispute Resolution Journal (1995).
