I am new to the message board. I am in the process of getting a divorce and my spouse is making it difficult. I really admire the legal system for being so blind to the issues. I have a daugther and she is not even willing to go to her mother for anything if I am around. The mother sees her own interest before the daughter. The court has ordered me to pay all the expenses though the spouse works and lives in the same house. She just spends money on herself and ignores the daughter, meawhile I am going in debt and worring about my daugters future. I also signed a big loan more than $100,000.00 in my name and bought a house in joint name with my spouse. The judge has indicated that buying a house in joint name would be a gift and the asset should be divided equally and I am solely responsible for the loan because I signed for it. This woman is out there to get me on domestic violence and nobody seems to care to protect me. When she calls the cops they come and make a report and ask her if she wants to file a TRO. I try to stay on another floor if she is around with the fear of domestic violence. I will die before I can loose my daughter doing these stupid things. She trails behind me instigating and carrying a tape recorder so I can say something but has not been successful. How can I even think of doing these things? Does anyone know how I can protect myself? Does anyone know if I can contest the loan amount? At present it is advised that we go for mediation and I don't think that can work because my spouse is extremely difficult to deal with (She has problems with her own family and now even a 4 year old daughter). She has changed her lawyer and I am sure she is not happy with the current lawyer too. I am just disheartended by the law as I thought it was suppose to protect the innocent and the weaks. My spouse is just taking advantage of the situation and I wish the judge could be a fly in the house to see what goes on in the house. I have no idea how I can prove this to the Judge.
