Can you void someone's check w/o their permish?

It's been a volitile few days here - the only way X communicates with me is screaming at me on the phone then hanging up - otherwise the lack of communication is annoying as well.

It's this lack of communication that has me asking the above question. Without warning, without explanation, without permission, X voided my check that was to pay for my children's class portrait cancelling my order. He put in an order of his own instead.

Can he legally do that? I mean, all I gotta do is go into the school, get a new order form and all is well. Is this worth doing anything over besides an attempt to prevent future crap?
