Yes, they get money. The one problem is the opposite end that no one ever wants to look at though, because its easier to point a finger and SAY that the states ONLY do this to make money, is that they ALSO spend money. They pay employees who send out garnishment orders and other mail, file paperwork, call other states tracking deadbeats, etc. etc. They pay for the costs associated with tracking down deadbeats. It all comes out of what they get for collecting. They are NOT going to get rich off this. Its more likely a wash. But it does mean they'll work harder on those cases where they have a better chance of collecting than expending more money on the harder cases where they're not likely to see the larger payoffs. |
