Made some assumptions on what I think BM pays for with SS....i mean CS (if I'm missing/forgetting something please point it out). I'm a little miffed now that I've calculated out all of this because I thought SS was more expensive than this: Rent is $2400 for 3B/2B for 7 people. I assumed if she was single she’d split a 2B for $800 as a roommate so I took (2400-800)/6 (the rest of the people there). For a car I assumed if she was single she’d have a car payment of $300 but since she has SS that requires a BMW for $500. Same calculation as with rent (500-300)/6. Gas at $250/month/7. I assumed she pays $100/month for food for SS when he’s with her so multiply by 0.67. Clothes $50/month when he’s with her so multiply by 0.67. (She doesn’t send clothes with him). Extra items at $100/month when he’s with her, multiply by 0.67. Items such as Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, movies, haircuts, etc. Travel $40/month what she reimburses DH in a year that SS travels 3 times for holidays. The average is 2, but I wanted to be liberal here. Medical at $20/month for 1.33 copays/month. DH provides insurance and we take care of his teeth when he is with us for the summer – the dentist, 5 to 7 fillings per year, etc. Cable $120/month divided by 7. Power $30/month divided by 7. Rent - $266 Car - $33 Gas - $24 Food - $67 Clothes - $34 Extra - $67 Travel - $40 Medical - $13 Cable - $17 Power - $4 Grand Total - $565 Now, DH pays over $800/month in CS plus an additional $400/month in travel. We provide everything for SS while he is at our house for him – food, clothes, a room, furniture, etc. etc. If you asked me if he pays too much in CS for his child – I would say YES. However, in CA CS is to raise the standard of living for the CP family (or lower that of the NCP family closer to the CP family, LOL) even though DH and BM were never married and she is married to someone else. I think this CS is definitely accomplishing that goal - raising the standard of living in the CP household. |
