I wouldn't spend a lot of money in Colorado courts. It does sound like you are assuming almost the entire burden of raising the kids. But Colorado courts are such a mess now you may lose the money you have to care for the kids to the courts. Get an estimate of what it will cost you to "use" Colorado courts and figure out how many months of the cs --if you were to get it --would go to pay for legal fees, family court helper fees (this is a case that sounds like they detirmine you would need at least 1 if not multilple family court helpers --ie parent coordinator, child and family investigator (CFI) and maybe even a family decision-maker.Whenever you get a family court helper involved you have their costs plus the cost of an atty and of course the family court helper has to talk to both parents atty so you can be billed for atty time separtley, atty time for talking to family court helper, family court helper time separtely, and family court helper time for talking to atty. Don't get caught up in the family court game. Do what is best in the long term for you and your children. It sounds like a good plan to get cs and put it away for their education but you may be ahead of the game not to even go for it. The codependence and corruption in the family court industry lends itself to depleting years of cs you would be receiving in the cost to obtain it. Not to mention what your children will go through. Protect your children and your family resources to care forthem. |
