It's pretty rare to get awarded attorney's fees in a normal trial. My husband's ex was unemployed and the judge made my husband pay $2K of her lawyer fees (out of probably $10K?). It was $100 a month for 20 months and it went to the lawyer, not her. And trust me, he didn't pay it off early! :)
