Not sure about your exact situation but I will be divorced next month. I looked into it for me and what me or my wife has to do is fill out a form and send it in to start her getting whatever portion of retirement she will end up getting. In Mississippi the judges do not normaly give 50 percent or alimony if the spouse can work. Of course she will get 20 percent of my normal pay for child support.

I was also told that they have to wait 90 days after getting the form and copy of the divorce decree in order to notify me by mail of whats going to happen.

Not sure if that will help you or not.
