big promises

Just thought i would ask advice on this one. What would you say/do when your 10yr old daughter comes to you and tells you that her dad is taking her on a huge trip that secretly you know there is a 99% chance of the trip never happening? Tonight she came in with 2 of her friends all excited saying dad is going to take her to Fiji. She even told them that she had told her teacher about the trip. I was busy putting up our christmas tree and so I didnt say much other than "oh thats nice" but I worry that all these broken large promises are not good for her. Last time it was a trip to China if she could only came up with $600 to go with him. (she is 10!) (the tip never happened btw) There have been more. I just was hoping for some advice,
