I wanted to separate but he wouldn't move out. He filed for divorce about a year later - and he still did not move out. It took six months and lots of lawyer fees. My advice is prepare yourself financially and talk with friends. Get a separate bank account but keep all other accounts separate.
My advice would be to get as many free consultations of lawyers as you can. Find the worse ones (the most adverserial) and DO NOT USE THEM! Divorce can go so long and get so nasty and trying to take the "high road" is hard!
