...but MOST of the rides are SO automated, that honestly, it is not like the old days where the attendent could turn the ride on, speed it up, etc. The TRAINED person pushes the initiate buttin, and a HIGHLY technical set of safety procedures run, then the ride initiates with a preprogrammed set of instructions. The location of each car or train is CONSTANTLY monitored, to keep them from colliding or going to fast or slow for the desired effect. Like I said, headless bloody bodies lying around the park is REALLY not good for business. I was at Six Flag a few years ago, got on a scrambler like rde with my son, the ride began to operate, spinning around and around. All of a sudden it went to fast, a short alarm sounded, and the whole damn thing shut down. Iwas talking to the operator after wards, she said that she was UNABLE to restart it until the maintenence team inserted THEIR key and did an internal reset. And even then, there was a MINIMUM of 30 minutes before the computer would allow it to run, to prevent maintenence from just doing a reset and run. |
