Actually your DD and mine sound similar. H said to me the other day he thinks DD will be our biggest trouble out of the three kids. DD- once she hit 14 and high school has an attitude! BUT she stands up for what she believes in, she is not a follower and she is very determined. She broke up with her in school BF not long ago because she felt as though he was trying to change her. She said that having a relationship is like having a JOB and that she had to compromise herself and her beliefs for his. She just wasn't willing to do that. She does not manipulate us (her parents) into believing she is someone entirely different than who she really is. She is herself and she has no problem telling people how she feels. If she thinks someone is making a poor choice, she tells them. I always tell her she cannot change people into who she expects them to be. However she does not conform or give into peer pressure (thus far). H has a problem with it because she is not easily controlled. See with SD- he would tell her what he expected of her and then she would PRETEND to be the person he wanted her to be. DD, she is who she is and makes no excuses for it. She has a VERY high moral compass and she is very grounded.
I was just surprised at H's thoughts on DD- considering SD hopped a Greyhound and went 3 states away while lying to her parents--- how does he get DD being the problem? We have not caught DD in one lie. When she is being bratty she knows full well that she is. She is head strong, but she has many insanely amazing qualities! Plus she communicates almost everything with me- we have a very open relationship (all the kids and I do). We still have a few years left, but so far I think DD has her head screwed on right :)
