I am very combative when I wake up from surgery but when I had my last open-heart surgery I was kept out for two days and then slowly woken up with less meds so I wasn't combative - my mother much appreciated the less combative me - I guess I kinda freaked her out one time when it took six men to hold me down so I wouldn't injure myself. You'll do fine and they give a nice little lala drift off to where you don't care about anything and you will wake up a little groggy and maybe drift for a bit but todays anesthetics are much better and you no longer have the groggy feeling that lasts for days. The only inside of the OR I ever saw (was still awake to see) was when I was having the open-heart surgery and I really wish I hadn't seen that - sooooooo many instruments and it was sooooo cold in there and then to lower my body temp they put these freezing cold things on each butt cheek lol!!! Prayers and speedy recovery =) |
