Re: Seems like the wedding is off

The poor kids are being "forced" to save for the wedding of their dreams..

---> Ahhhhhhhhhhh....NOT! Ex and I spent around $500-$600 for our wedding/honeymoon in the early 80s. Our rings (engagement/2 bands) cost $110. My gown...cream crepe de chine shot with gold thread, hand-smocked/embroidered, I made and was pretty 'spendy' at about $50. A good friend who was the local florist did my hairpiece, my bouquet, the maid-of-honor's bouquet, buttonaires (sp) for the groom, best man and father and corsages for the mothers. Ex worked for the local newspaper and his boss paid for our invitations (ex printed them) and postage. $50 for the license, $100 for the wedding chapel (no, not Nevada), $20 for the minister. Maid-of-honor bought her own dress...gorgeous one for $20. The men wore their best suits. My dad paid for the cake, beverages and snacks for the reception; ex's step-father bought the champagne. Some asshat paid for the 'entertainment' when he decided he wanted to jump off the local bridge and no one could leave until he was talked down.
