Depends. I had to provide a BC and SS info for all of my kids for insurnace when I started my job. My x had to provide the same. Neither of us needed marriage and divorce papers because we were the primary carrier, not a spouse. My employer will only cover stepchildren if they live primarily with the employee. A CO saying the parent is ordered to cover doesn't cut it if the kids live with the other parent. The parent would have to find other means of insurance.
I understand him needing the divorce papers but not the marriage certificate. Obviously if you have a legal divorce you were legally married.
