I've been there and done that. They tried to take me to the cleaners, sent all kind of nasty letters to me, the ex owed 32,000 in taxes, since I was the one with a paycheck to garnish. When you are married, you owe for each other. My accountant, got the IRS to take 6000.00 cash and I was put on IRS probation for 5 years, cost 2000.00 for the accountant to do his thing. Get divorced as quick as you can, hire a professional to deal with the IRS.
