Divorce on hold due to Bankrupcty

I do not understand why I had to place my divorce on hold until after my individual chapter 7 is discharged. Only advice given to me was stop the divorce.

Don't stop the divorce. I had the same problem. You can get everything for the divorce taken care of and signed while waiting for the discharge. Once you get the discharge, just submit copies and then you won't have to wait much longer. If your divorce case is dismissed for want of prosecution, then have it reinstated within 30 days.
