Why did you wait 23 years to do the QDRO? Shouldn't that have been included in your decree?

I hired a lawyer but he didnt want to take my money b/c he said its something I can do on my own. But I am not familiar with the qdro?

Was the retirement mentioned in the divorce decree. What were you rewarded in your divorce? If nothing was mentioned there is no way for you to go back now and ammend the decree.

A QDRO is a Qualified Domestic Relations Order. If your divorce decree awarded you a portion of your ex spouse's pension or retiirement, that is the type of order that would be used to divided it.
Many lawyers charge $750 or slightly more to draft such orders.
If your divorce decree did not award you an interest in the retirment plan, you cannot seek it after the fact. Property Settlements are final. A QDRO merely reflects the division terms specified in the divorce decree.

At least this provides a part answer to the question "When does a woman STOP wanting money from a man..."
For sure longer than 23 years...Divorced woman sure don't want the man, but they sure are happy to get the money. Sick, sick, sick and disgusting;...

Re: qdro's

I have spent close to $1500 trying to get my QDRO. His attorney is now county attorney and did not finish his personal practice business before taking office. My QDRO is only for $5000, so I am not contacting my attorney any more for their help. This is rediculous. It is not fair that I have been charged this much for one piece of paper, much less trying to get it for over a year. Any Advice????
