Need help on how to do this

My wages were garnished and the employer had sent in the payments to the payment center. I also sent in a payment at the same time without knowing they garnished my wages. In the mean time the order was terminated the month prior. So basically I have overpaid by 2 months. When I called the payment center they said it is now a small claims item and they will send the payments on to the Custodial parent when they get them. My work said they already mailed them off. What do I do? DFS screwed up to begin with. I tried to make it right and get screwed in the mean time. HELP..

How much is the 2 payments that you are behind? Is CP willing to reimburse you?

YOu don't know if a garnishment order was issued to your employer? (It usually is). I would just write off the money as they will say your payment was a gift

Re: Need help on how to do this

I did not know about the garnishment until I got my pay stub. Child dropped out of College and I was not notified until I asked DFS to inquire. Then it was admitted that the child never even went to classes the first two months of school. Long story short I paid 3 months worth of CS when in a "not trying to game" the system it would have stopped before the 3. Kind of expensive gift for someone who wanted nothing to do with Dad except receive $$$. Would you give your child $$ after they repeatedly lie to you for 10 plus years? I paid my dues and then some faithfully for the 20+ years so why am I punished for following the order?

I'd chalk it up to a lesson learned and move on....and be glad to be done with it. It's over, just look at that bright side.
