My wife and I divorced this year. Previously we filed joint returns with the IRS. Now that we're divorced, we will use the single filing status for 2009. Do we have to submit proof to the IRS that we are divorced? Thank you for your responses. |

They don't . There would only be a problem if the filing status don't match up , for example one spouse files married filing seperately while the other lists single . |
