Out of State Marital Property Distribution

Has anyone heard of not being able to get divorced in Kentucky because of marital property owned in Texas...home was bought in Texas and we lived there until the Army gave my husband orders to Kentucky where we live now...but he said his lawyer could not do the divorce because of the property owned in Texas?????

As long as you have lived in Kentucky for 6 months you are a Kentucky resident and have to file in Ky regardless of other property owned. The requirements to file is to be a resident of the state. Have you been there 6 months? Have you changed your license to Ky?
