Can I rent our home?

My wife of 18 years recently stepped outside of our relationship and is now staying with her lover. We have not made any steps toward a formal divorce. I am ill and living in our home but, can no longer afford the mortgage. I want to rent our home to prevent our credit from being damaged and to make sure we keep the house. In this market we would break even or be upside down so selling is not an option. Can I rent the house and go into a leasing contract without her knowledge? If so, can she break the lease and could the tenants come after me for this?

UUmm..not sure if you can do it without her permission but it is a great idea. I just rented out my martial house. We tried selling for two years. I couldnt afford it anymore. I posted it on craigs list and had it rented in a week.
