OT-Hoping it stops soon.

So, Thursday, we put our chiweenie down. DD15 and I were there with her when she took her last breath. It was hard but the best thing to do for her.
Friday night, I wound up in the hospital from severe, shooting pains in the lower part of my stomach. I had a hysterectomy back in '06 and they left my right ovary in, hoping menopause could be avoided. That didn't work out so well for me. Anyway, apparently I have ovarian cancer, they think it is stage 2b, but can't be sure until they do exploratory surgery to find out what all it has affected.
My dr called me Sunday and told me that my test results indicated 8 infections in my body. They aren't sure what/where the infections are. My dr said the best option would be to go into the hospital for at least a week. Being a single parent, I can't do that right at this second.
Anyway, I go back to work today, against my dr's advice. I can barely stand but my manager said I will have a stool at my register so I don't have to stand all the time. My kids are taking it pretty well but they are still stressed and worried about me. I am praying everything can be taken care of pretty easily, as far as these things go.
Not sure how much more can hit me but I am hoping not much will.

You need to put the word out to family, friends, church, etc... You need help with your kids so you can go into the hospital and get treatments to get well so you CAN be around for your kids.
Now is not the time to prove that you can do it all. Ask for help people are usually willing to help out.

I agree with Tweebs. You need to do this now ~ We know your a super woman but cancer COMES FIRST so please reach out to the ones you trust for help and get your butt under medical supervision now ~

I am trying, I really am. I am not trying to be superwoman, but the fact remains that I don't have many people I can rely on at this point in my life. I am working on getting a support system in place, it just takes more time than it seems there is right now. My dr said if nothing else, she can prescribe the shots that she wants me to do 4 times a day for 8 days, some mixture of antibiotics, steroids, B12, and some other stuff, but she would really prefer to have me in the hosp while I am doing them. I am waiting on a call back from her. I may have to do the shots at home and although it won't be the ideal way to do this, I have to make sure my kids are taken care of.

Hope all goes well, BL. I would hope that there is someone in your life able to take the kids for a week while you take care of yourself. I'm guessing part of the problem is not only having a person help out, but you just started the job not too long ago, so I'm assuming any time off would be unpaid and you likely don't have health insurance. Talk to the churches in your area, salvation army, social services to see what financial/medical assistance you can qualify for. Take care of yourself, BL.

You are right, I don't have health insurance. I won't have it for a year. I just got moved from seasonal to temp, which is all Walmart is doing right now. I could be temp for 10 years, but you have to wait a year for benefits. I got in touch with a program this morning that will probably cover all of my medical. I just have to wait for the app in the mail and send it back in and do a phone interview.

I'm happy to hear your doc has some at home treatments available. What a relief. Something is better then nothing and those infections had my goat ... I'm really concerned about that!! If you need anything at all Becka .. message me on FB and I mean for anything!! Time to focus on yourself and your health ...

Thanks, girl. She doesn't like the idea of me being at home to do the shots, but it's better than not doing them at all. I will still be able to work and my kids will be taken care of, along with my stuff being dealt with. :-) Win, win.

I paid air freight on a part for next day...next day my Azz. 3 days later???

First, I hate to hear this and I wish you well. Before you get worried, I would really wait till they do the surgery. I don't know "how" they can tell you they "think" you are T2b but havent run tests.... how do they know its spread to the pelvic tissues outside the uterus and fallopian tubes? Since you've had a hysto... it can't be in the uterus.. so that leaves the pelvic tissue and fallopian tubes.. surgery has to be done in order to determine that... I say proceed with caution when they start throwing stages at you before tests/surgery... I was on death's door with my cervical cancer... and after all was said and done.. a simple procedure took care of it... and 2 years later.. I am fine with clean paps. I was also dying 5 years ago with bone cancer that turned out to be non-ossifying fibroma's... So, please... don't worry.. YET.. but do what they tell you to do. Also know that most doc's NEVER stage cancer until after surgery!
For your medications for infections.. are they going to allow a PIC line or a port? That might help things... especially if you are having to do these shots daily. If you are that sick, it would be a good idea to check into it so you don't risk collasping of veins... with most ovarian cancer, this is done early and quickly- check into it.

My dr said it has to be confirmed with the exploratory surgery, but there is something in the way that the gall bladder and the appendix are affected that makes her pretty sure that it has spread to those. I honestly don't know jack about this and will not look it up because then I will be scared out of my mind.
I will do the shots in a different spot everytime so no port needed, she says. I will do these shots 4 times a day, starting Thursday.

I went and clocked in at work, the timeclock told me to go see my personelle manager. I start worrying because I missed my last 3 shifts. I walk in and she gets my folder, I am thinking, this is it. I am done. She proceeds to tell me that 13 of my customer service managers wrote recommendations and I am one of 3 of the seasonal workers they are keeping!!

It's your body....dr do not get to decide if and what you need all the time...remember that. How long will you take these shots? Eventually, you are going to need a pic or a port....this is how they will do chemotherapy, which if you are stage 2, you will have to have. Why subject yourself to finding new homes for your shots? 4x a day? I would highly recommend it. I've had both and I am very glad I did. Talk again to the Dr.

Becka - I was diagnosed before surgery at stage 2 breast cancer because they knew that it had already moved to the lymph nodes. Then, I got sick the weekend before surgery and they had to postpone it. In one month, I went from Stage 2 to Stage 3.
Get your butt into the hospital and get this done. Wish I was retired, I would come there and watch your kids and hold your hands.

The hospital stay is coming, it is just not a have-to yet. She wants me to do the shots because of all of the infections in my body. We can't do much until those are taken care of.

I am pretty positive for the most part, just the job thing yesterday improved me mood.

Sorry to hear this Becka. I hope that you can get the infections under control soon so you can get started with the appropriate treatment. As hard as it must be right now, try to keep focused on the positive - you have some really good kids who adore you, you've got bosses who think very highly of you, and you've got the support and good vibes from friends. You'll get through this one day at a time - listen to your doctor, and more importantly, listen to YOUR instincts. They will help you make the decisions about treatment that's best for you.

I do have alot of blessings, JJ, thank you. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have what I have.
One day at a time is what I am trying to accomplish now. It is hard but I am managing. I made it thru my shift at work today, even though I felt like it was going to kill me.

The support on here is alot of help since I don't have a whole lot IRL, at this point. My kids are awesome about it but I try not to share everything with them. I don't wanna scare them. Thank you, Spring.
