I like visiting florida, but like you, couldn't live there. No snow = teh suck! Plus too many geriatrics. Last time I worked down there I felt like I was in a city disguised as a nursing home.

If I never saw snow again, it would be too soon.

H and I have plans A, B, C, D....

Ideally, if we can afford it, we will keep out townhome here in Colorado and buy a small house in Fla. We'll spend summers in CO and winters in FLA. (Plan A)

If we can't afford that, we'll keep the townhome in CO and build a small apartment on to my parent's place and spend winters there. (Plan B)

If we can't afford that or if my mother drives me crazy, we'll keep the townhouse in Colorado and rent a place in Fla for 3 or 4 months a year. (plan C), or, if gas prices go down, maybe by a nice 5th-wheel and winter in that in Florida. (Plan D).

Either way, I have NO plans on spending winters in Colorado after I retire. I just can't stand the cold!!! But I LOVE the summers here!!

I'd never leave the snow. If my wife wanted to move to a warm location FT, then she'd be going on her own because there's no way I'd ever move to the southern part of the USA FT. I'll more than likely remain in KC FT, but if we do get a 2nd place, it will be in Nova Scotia or Montreal.
I love the Keys ( got several Hogs Breath Saloon shirts lol ).... I was born just south of Miami. I like to visit... could not stand to live there... not a big fan of hot weather.. I'm a snow lover. Plus I have to have the seasons.
Me too...I cannot wait to get out of TEXAS! This heat is oppressive.

The worst weather I've experienced was my time working in Laredo/Nuevo Laredo. The day I got down there it was 115 degrees. Even by 11pm at night it was still in the 90's. I had no inclination to go outside.

Toture. I will not even go there. it is a drug town and many areas are even off limits to military personnel-if that tells you anything. I told my husband I want orders to either the midwest, New England, or the mid atlantic ASAP!!! Done with the southwest!

+++++++

That, in addition to the fact that I LOVE Colorado 6 months a year. I HATE it 6 months a year. I LOVE Florida 6 months a year. I HATE Florida 6 months a year. LOL So if moved, instead of being miserably cold 6 months a year, I'd be miserably hot 6 months a year. LOL

I love my job. I can't make the kind of money in Florida that I make in CO. My H and I are both with a pension company...something that's hard to find these days. My H has been with the company 30 years...gets 7 weeks of vacation a year. He could never replace that if he left. I get 4 weeks vacation a year, I'd hate to start over at 2 weeks and give up a nice pension.

I won't pull my kids from school. I won't take them away from their dad.

Lots of reasons we're staying "for now." BUT, but, but, when we retire, the PLAN is definitly to spend summers here in CO and winters in Fla! The best of both worlds!!!

And Hogs Breath is on the top of my list for Key West. Can't wait!!!!!!!

Florida was Ok, when I lived there, but the freaking SAND. There is sand in the house, sand in the cars, and the worst was the sand in the shoes. Sand was everywhere, it drove me nuts.
After I moved to Missouri, I know I was still vacuuming sand out of the truck 6 months later.
