If you are going through mediation, your mediator should tell you everything you need. For instance, a list of your net worth, which is your income, taxes you pay, any assets you have, insurance, benefits, bank accounts, your bills (liabilities). As for custody, my estranged husband and I had already worked on that with an agreement between ourselves that we would not change much of our son's routine because it is hard enough that my husband is not living in our house anymore. My son and I live in our house where he goes to school in the same neighborhood and since we have always celebrated the holidays at my family's (his family is whacked) we continue to do so. My husband moved out in July and we started proceedings in December so we had plenty of time to figure that part out.
