Transfers affecting custody
      #726854 - 01/24/11 06:03 PM

I hope I'm asking this in the right place. I have sole custody and my new spouse is in the military. Ex states he is going to fight for custody because we can't offer stability. On a side note, regardless of where we move it will not affect his visitation negatively because he lives more than 3k miles away.

Given the fact that he is already three thousand miles away, I'm thinking that a judge would have no sympathy for his attempt to get custody.

The military does a PCS about every three years. That's the way it is. There are loads of military brats where I live and it seems to be the parents that make the difference in whether the kids loathe it or love it.

Military not stable? Hmm, let's see. Steady paycheck, health and dental benefits, commissary for lower priced food, multiple support groups where you and your child(ren) will find friendship and assistance --

Your ex will be fighting an uphill battle on this one, I don't think I'd worry about it.

Exactly! Military children are some of the most stable (behavior-wise, health-wise and all other-wise) that I've seen.

My bet is that ex is jealous because of the new spouse and does not want him parenting.

I'm in complete agreement with you english --

My SO is a military brat and he LOVED it. His dad is retired AF.

Thank you! I think he harasses me to get me upset or scared. He's had mulitiple chances to move out here to be closer to the kids. My mom even offered to let him move in with her until he finds a place/job.

If you allow him to see that his words affect you, he'll continue to use them.

Ignore him until there's a process server at your door or you get notice of a court date. It surely isn't like he's going to come and kidnap them or anything.....

Never let them see you sweat....;o)
