If I'm not asking for Child Support, is a paternity test still required? State of MO

For what? To list the father on the BC if you aren't married? In my state it is, I have no idea about MO but there are plenty of posters from there on the site. In some states you can list anyone you want as the father without proof.

Not unless you are trying to get welfare of any type.

If you're trying to get assistance then the state will file a case for CS. Unless you lie and say you don't know who the father is. Of course if they find out you've lied you can be ordered to pay back anything you received.

You can put whatever name you want on the child's birth certificate, it won't stand up in court without a paternity test. The only LEGAL document that is upheld in court is an Affidavit Acknowledging Paternity which does not require a DNA test unless the person signing thereby acknowledging paternity requests one.

As others have mentioned, if you are looking to obtain state assistance and wish for the father to not be held accountable, just be forewarned, they are quite thorough in their investigations. I handed a private order order to my state's enforcement agency, just for enforcement, I already had a signed affidavit acknowledging paternity and a copy of the DNA test, they still wanted to know everything about anyone I had been intimate with - down to how many tattoos they had and what color their eyes were - the state will want their money back. If you do something now that you wish to revoke later, you will be the person in the hot seat.
