That was simply a gift of the marriage.
Yup, the more a woman leeches off you in the past the more entitled she is to keep leeching. Sad but true. From an ethical & moral point of view your thinking makes sense. But legally, giving gifts during marriage just makes you even more obligated to maintain her in the lifestyle to which your gifts made her accustomed.
Just end this thing and be careful to avoid these leeches in the future.

FYI The state of Washington did order child support to be paid by a stepparent to my stepkids biomom - my husband and his ex at the time had an agreement of no support to change hands due to each parent having one of the children and she was married to a man that was well to do and we could have gone after for support due to extraordinary income which would require her to pay but when she split from Mr. Well to do she was able to get cs from the ex-step-dad (Mr. Well to do) for a period of 1 year for my stepdaughter - go figure.
Anyway just saying to never say never - court is a crap shoot on any given day....

There are plenty of cases like this. Moral of the story is, do not associate with a single mother, unless you want to be forced by a court to pay CS for her kids when the relationship ends. I've heard the same thing with grandparents who lend a hand, then the mother slaps them with CS too.
No good deed goes unpunished.

Yeah, you might want to google that, bud. That dude in WA is supporting a kid THAT IS NOT HIS DNA, and HE WAS NEVER MARRIED TO THE MOM. You married the mom, you promised to pay her for life. Done.
