My cousin takes her son to the Dr. for Adderall and then takes it herself. It seems to be a growing trend in adults because it is like speed. She dropped... like... 25 pounds and runs around like the Energizer Bunny.

13.1...because I am only half crazy!

my son takes concerta and the Dr. asks him how it makes him feel and does he feel focused enough can he tell the difference if he misses the dose etc...

the prescribing Dr. must not ask the child or the parent is having the child lie....

How awful for a parent to do that - I can't imagine taking my sons concerta from him when he NEEDS it to focus and be able to go to school and play sports etc... WOW.JUST.WOW.

I know it can have a stimulating effect for an individual who does not need the medication but why would you steal your child's medication....just blows my mind....

That is in the back of my mind in this situation too. Mom says she is also on the med, but has no job or insurance, just had a baby and trying to lose weight. I can't accuse, and the kids would never admit it. Don't know what's worse. Mom taking kids pills or kids taking the pills for no reason.

Your husband needs to have a sit down with the doctor. They either have ADD or they don't. Remind the doc that a full neuro psych eval by a neurologist or a psychiatrist may be needed here.

A doctor who prescribes a med for a purpose not FDA approved may run into problems with the licensing board. So might a doc who continues to prescribe a med once they have been made aware that there are reasons to be concerned about medication diversion. I'd remind the doc of that......and I'd let the state licensing board know of my concerns too.
