I have never experienced being at the same event as my ex.

He never showed an interest when we were married and except for a short time when he was trying to impress the judge; he never showed any interest after we separated.

Until NOW.

DS12 had a function last week. I had made arrangements to go w/some other moms. And DS12 informed me his dad and fom were coming...

Even though there is an OP, I didn't think it would be a problem.

I would be in the back helping out. He and she would be in the audience. I would be surrounded by many people; I would have nothing to fear.

BUT DS12 didn't see it the same way! He didn't want me to come.

He said there was no stopping his father from coming so could I please stay home. He said he felt his dad would cause a scene if I was there. He was deeply stressed.

I agreed to stay home. It was fine, I would do anything for him. It was just weird because I have never missed anything of my child's before.

Anyway, my question is: are you sure your child wants you all there at the same time? My DS has voiced a need to keep his worlds "totally separate".

I figure it is his time to shine. He should be able to do so w/o worry...

We see BM at dance recitals each year and at ball games each fall, but rarely speak. You know women, we scope each other out! LOL but my husband will sometimes leave the event and ask if BM was there. He says he would never notice her except for the few times I've pointed her out or mentioned seeing her! LOL

I know you'll be nervous with this being the first, but in our case, it's typically not a big deal.
