Had leather couches, a friend got new furniture and was selling old furniture, we bought it. Dark brown microfiber.
Now I did not know that getting new couches would mean my babies, my fur babies, my sweet doe eyed wiener dogs would not be allowed on new furniture. I had to buy dog beds and a mamma sitting bed so I could be on the floor with the babies.
Back to couches which are now giving my eye a twitch....is there a special brush to get hair off these things? Anyone have microfiber and want to RAVE about it? Or the other side, have it and want to go RAVING MAD about it!?
I still have my leather furniture in the garage. Wondering if I should just pass along this nice new furniture and settle for the old sectional that fits family and fur family.

I usually use the microfiber rags you can buy at Walgreens. But any damp washcloth will work. Seriously - I Love my microfiber couch. I've had it for 10 years (with 1 messy kid, 5 dogs and 3 cats), and a damp cloth still makes it look like new...
Mine came with a tag that told you what to use to get out what (like ink, or food, or juice, etc.). I've used everything but bleach to clean it (water, lysol, vinegar, etc)

Really, so just a damp microfiber rag will clean the microfiber? Sorry to sound so ignorant. I am thankful to get a rave review though. 10 years on the same couches with FIVE DOGS and THREE CATS!!! I just have three and three and I'm freaking out.
Wow, sounds pretty durable!

I have a microfiber couch. I love it. And I have a Persian cat.. that drops an entire coat in spring. And now a shorthair with little needley hairs. Honestly, whatever version of micro mine is? Hair rarely sticks to it at all. And I have one of those I think it's scotchguard? It's a big old plastic thing and you put bright yellow sticki things on it and it takes up hair like no one's business. I use it on the carpet when I brush out Miss LB (the feline version lol). I almost never use it on the couch cuz it doesn't need it.
I actually RE-bought the SAME microfiber couch. ExSO and I had bought a new set when I moved in with him. When we split up, he kept everything we bought "together" but I really LOVED that couch so I bought the exact same thing.

I have microfiber couches but reading this I'm thinking is there more than one type? Hair doesn't really stick to mine either -- I usually use the fabric brush on the vacuum to suck it off occassionally.
Hint for new couches with animals/kids: take off the cushion covers and cover each cushion with a garbage bag. Then recover. Nothing will soak into the cushions then.

Does your cat claw through the microfiber?
Maybe I'm just being overprotective and need to relax a little before I go bald worrying about it.
I woke up at 5AM this morning because I heard a cat possibly clawing at it....when I went into the living room all THREE cats were in position around the couches looking very innocent. They're good at that.
These cushions do not come off the couch CJ....that is a really good idea!! I wish they did.

Yes - any damp rag will make it look really nice. But I love microfiber anything. Mine looks like suede - sometimes cat or dog hair will stick to it. It was funny, about a year after I got it, I noticed I had microfiber boots and a bag that were Exactly the same color/material. lol
I didn't have all 5 dogs at the same time. We have 3 and 3 right now. The cats are new (in the last year), I've never been a cat person, but I love them.

Yes it looks like a darn brown suede. It's really pretty, and it looks so nice in the room.
I think I could be having trouble coping with the separation of me and the dogs...
I used to be a cat person....now not so much. Weird. The boys I have are the last cats I will own.

My parents had one for years and I hated it! It was always full of static, especially in the Winter. It also was easy to get puncture holes from our cats and dogs. Even my furniture now, just 6-7 years in have puncture holes from my two 25 pound dogs. I really need to get new furniture and keep my babies off of it :(

My dogs shed a few times a year and I use one of those PET lint rollers- I get it at Target- works great! But yes a wet rag on microfiber couch should work well.
