...somewhere in the United States.
The trip itself wasn't bad, but the start wasn't so great. We had a gal riding with us who brought her dog and said dog went after my cat (she was told to leave her dog in the backyard until we were ready to go, but obviously didn't listen). And my cat's terror was such that he mistook me for a tree and then the gal's daughter started freaking out because of all the blood. Fortunately my cat only went two doors down and I was able to recover him. Most of the puncture wounds have healed, though I will have scars from them...a couple of them were pretty deep. The dog lived, though not without some serious threats from me.
It's taken me a week to get used to the fact that there is 16 hours of daylight here, though not without some changes to my schedule. But I'm not the only one...I have noticed that quite a few businesses in two also keep later 'summer' hours...not opening until 9 or 10 in the morning and staying open until 6 or 7.
We had several days of rain this last week which I understand is unusual for this time of year. I just tell folks that I brought it with me so I wouldn't be home sick. The farmers love it, but the construction guys...not so much since it falls so hard that it mucks up their sites. Yesterday we had severe thunderstorm warnings...I wish I had taken pictures of it coming in...it was so cool. It was like this huge grey fluffy blanket setting down on sky blue sheets...and then it melted and the hail started.
But mostly it's sunny and I love it...very little humidity. And even though it is going to get cold this winter (gonna have to buy long underwear)...at least it won't be damp.
Living arrangements haven't turned out as expected...instead of moving into my friend's 39' trailer, I'm in the travel RV. Not their fault...the local electric company is behind schedule installing boxes so it's going to be a few months yet before they can move a mobile in. But they are signing papers today on some resort property that their oldest daughter is going to be running, so I will be moving into her 19' trailer and she's taking the RV to the resort. Then once the electric company installs the new boxes, I get the 39' trailer. It's all good though...I still have my own place even though it is small.
The people here are very nice and very friendly and my friends have an 'open door' policy and so it can get quite crowded and for someone who's not used to it, it gets to be a bit much and so I often excuse myself and go back to my little RV.
I'm doing okay. I sometimes miss Jack, but for the most part I don't because I feel less lonely being by myself than I did living with him (if that makes any sense). We keep in contact via email and he took the early retirement deal and is seeing his doctor; they start him on anti-depressants and are arranging counseling. I still care a great deal about him, but his issues...both medical and emotional...were destroying us and it was best for both of us to separate while there was still a chance for a future instead of hating each other.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Glad to get an update Gecko. Sorry to hear about the snafu with the electrical. I know what it's like to be with someone and be lonely. Not my hubby but my fiancé many years ago. I was just a thing, cast off to the side. Never felt more alone than I did with him. Whew, glad that is over!

Good to hear you are in one piece =)
Are you perchance in the Matanuska Valley, Prince William, or somewhere by Fairbanks? The things you describe sound like Alaska...
Now that you have internet everything is right with the Gecko world.

I'm glad to hear you made it in one piece, and I totally get the part about being alone is better than being with someone and being lonely. Buy that long underwear, enjoy all the wonderful sunshine, and be proud of yourself.
You not only listened to your instincts, you had the courage to act on them. So many people wouldn't have been strong enough to do that. You, dear Gecks, rock.

There is a lot of new construction, so it's not surprising that the electric company is behind schedule. Or that cable and land-lines are also behind schedule. And that there is only one cell phone tower.
I wish things could have turned out differently for Jack and I...they should have been different...but as I told him, I am not responsible for his choices. And it has been his choice...he knew he had issues...but choose instead to bury his head in the sand in hopes they would go away...or that I could make them go away (NOT my job).

Thanks for the offer, but what we need is for the electric company to hire more folks so they can fill the backlog of orders.

Yes, no, maybe so or not at all. Sorry, but not revealing my current location other than I'm still in the U.S.
I wouldn't say that all is right in the Gecko world, but they are better. :)
