Sounds like the judge simply made an error. After 30 days, it's too late to contest. With that said, you are going to pay $60,000....it certainly wouldn't have cost anywhere near that. Has it been over 30 days?
Beyond that, you can't change the tax laws. They are what they are.

It is way past 30 days and the judge made no mistake. As it turns out, this was all very carefully planned. Now, not only am I paying him property division..aka...maintenance, I will not be able to write it off my taxes. Unbelievable! Very hard to take. Thank you for your answers.

I bought him out of the house at 60% of the equity.
How did you pay him for this - cash at the time of divorce? And where did you get that money, cash you already had on hand? 2nd Mortgage?

I refinanced the house in my name only and took out 60% of the equity. He got his check 3 days after the closing. I wish there was something I could do to at the very least write off the payments. My research has turned up nothing. I was just hoping someone here might have a suggestion but looks like the crooked judge and my piece of crap lawyer, locked in a rock solid case. I just have to accept it. Very, very hard.
