STbx'S undergraduate alma mater sent a letter to my house with a return envelope asking to fill in what he was currently doing so they could publish it in their alumni review. Rather than forward it to him I could not resist temptation. I couldn't decide if he was selling used cars, working at a recycling center, collecting bridge tolls, working at the zoo cleaning out the elephant stalls or part of a male dance review. I decided on the used car salesman in Bakersfield and filled it out and sent it back. (STBX is actually an attorney)

That would have been too suspicious. They would remember what he looked like (short with glasses.) He never would have made any money at that. Used car salesmen and attorneys have similar personalities.
