in the long process of divorce, wife left 3 months after moving into the house, 8 months later she signed a quick dead to the house so i could refinance and not lose the house, The deed for the house is now under my name only as is the financing, she just served me with papers that now tie up the house in the divorce, can she do that? my name is the only name on the house, and i am in the process of selling it to move out of state, how does this affect us selling the house? I have had the house for three years now, she only lived in it three months.
thanks

She signed a 'quit claim' to your house? And she served you with papers? Is there any court order among those papers, which specifically state that you can't sell the home? I strongly suggest that you begin with a free consultation with an attorney. I don't see how she could get much out of the house, but that's nothing compared to how long you could be tied up with that house. It sounds like she signed away her interest in the house. I don't see how she could prevent you from selling. So if you have no order to the contrary, I'd proceed with the sale.

I'd speak to an attorney before I did anything. How you handle the sale of the house will depend on the laws in your specific state. Even if your house is your sole property, she may be entitled to some of the proceeds or something.
