Hi
We are in Maryland. My wife and I want to share the 3 kids between our homes on a rotating 2 week basis. I will have primary custody. How should the child support payments be worked out? It doesn't seem fair for her to just pay me since she will have the kids half-time. Also, I make almost 3 times her salary.
What's appropriate here?

that your state uses to calculate, the higher wage earner usually pays the lower wage earner some child support DESPITE an equal timeshare of parenting. If your incomes are on a par with each other, then perhaps you will be able to minimize any child support payments. Since you make three times her salary, I believe it will be impossible. What's appropriate is checking with your state guidelines or using an online calculator such as www.alllaw.com/childsupport/calculators and input the approrpiate information. It's a fairly accurate calculator and should give you a reasonable estimate of what your monthly obligation should be.

They have the percentages in the states that use percentages. :)

Thanks! This worksheet is exactly what I needed. Now, do similar ones exist for calculating alimony? I'm clueless as to this!

No, alimony is up to the judge.

is at the discretion of the judge. There is no set formula or calculation to predetermine the amount of alimony. It's possible your attorney might have an educated guess based on his prior knowledge of the judge's past orders in cases with similar incomes and length of marriage.
How long were you married? You said you make 3 times more money, but that implies that she is working. What is her income? Would she be able to support herself solely on her income? Does she have a degree? What is the job market like? There are a lot of factors to consider.
