My husband of 2 years has W2'd 250k and 300k the last two years while I W2'd 8k and 24k (gave up career to move for his). I currently earn about 60k. In addition, due to his irresponsible "keep up with the Jones" attitude, we have appprox 80k in debt (not including the mortgage). If our marital debt is split 50/50, I will not be able to afford to live. In terms of assets, all we have is my 20k stock portfolio aquired way before the marriage. Do I have a chance at spousal support or alimony? We live in IL.

So you have only been married two years? That is a very short term marriage-do you have any kind of a disability?
Do you have any children together?
I would forget about the alimony portion and worry more about the debt. See if you all can come to some kind of agreement regarding the debt/house.

(most likely) due to the short term of your marriage. However, since your current income would make it a great hardship to equally divide the marital debt, then you force the sale of the house, using the equity to pay off the marital debt, and dividing any remaining equity. That way you both start off with no debt, equal assets, and you both earn enough money to support yourselves.
