My STBX bought a house that I didn't want while I was overseas using a power-of-attorney I had left with her.
She (in fairness) is taking the house, and I've already said I will take no equity, of course not paying any of the payments or repairs.
Now she is telling me (we are filing monday) that she will be unable to rifinance, and that there have been more things to go wrong with the house so it would not sell for the $89,000 left on the loan.
How do I get myself out of being responsible for the remainder on the loan if she can't refinance and if it sells for less than it is worth?

I'm not sure you can...and if if there is a way, I think you need to be sure she is telling you the truth.

Yeah I've already found fault in a few of her statements, so I'm going to consult a lawyer about it, just hoping for something concrete before I drop a bunch of money on a lawyer.

How about, at a minimum, getting an evaluation from a Realtor of your choice...at least you'll know what the value might conceivably be, at it should't cost you anything.
