My STBX and I own a farm with cattle (all land, equipment and livestock were purchased during the marriage). He handled everything dealing with the farm while I raised our two children (both of us have other jobs as well). In January, approximately two weeks before I filed for divorce, he and I signed and dated an inventory list with our local farm lending agency stating that there were 215 head of cattle. Now he is claiming (even in court) that he lied on the inventory and there are really only 120 head of cattle. Will he most likely be responsible for paying me for the missing cattle? So far the judge seems to be figuring the value of the cattle @ 215 head and not listening to STBX's story. Opinions? Because STBX is still claiming that he won't have to account for the missing cattle as he is trying to make an offer to buy me out (a ridiculously low offer of course).

It seems that his credibility is shot. The Judge ultimately determines credibility and, it would seem, he has none. That is good for you.

How do you hide a cow? ;-)
It's probably going to be based on the 215 number.

I keep picturing a whole bunch of cows trying to hide behind trees and laughing.
Actually it did come to mind that he could hide them by just having them temporarily reside with another farmer friend. Does he have any friends willing to put up cattle? I have relatives that used to own dairy farms and they seemed to haul cows around all the time.

If there's something to hide, believe me, he's the one who can figure out a way to hide it...even a cow LOL! After all, he managed to hide his girlfriend for a little while even while we were married!
Yes, he definitely has tons of places where he can "hide" them and I would never know. What I'm thinking that he's done however is sell the cows (mostly calves I think) to penhookers. Penhookers buy cows and calves paying mostly in cash...no paperwork trail. Unfortunately for STBX, he forgot about the inventory list that he had signed in January...I guess he was too wrapped up in leading his double life.
